Christmas is a celebration, warmth, hope, faith, love, fulfillment. But the Christmas and New Year holidays аre a period in which humanity consumes an enormous amount of resources, most of which cannot be recovered. From Christmas trees to cards and gifts and of course Christmas dinner, our carbon footprint grows during the holidays. However, there is certainly a way to fully enjoy the holidays in a responsible way for nature, the environment and ourselves and our children. How? Water resources in the fight against climate change

Climate change has led to more frequent droughts in the Mediterranean. Sandro Bambini, president of the Italian irrigation consortium Sponda Soliva, shares his experience with this problem.
According to Yordanka Dineva from the Biodiversity Foundation, the preservation of wetlands is extremely important. Similar is the opinion of Radina Kaldamukova, Master of Geoecology from the University of Tübingen, Germany. She adds that a good innovative method is the construction of blue-green infrastructure. The correct management and separate collection of waste is also important, says the former MEP and founder of the Association "Black Sea Institute" prof. Marusya Lyubcheva.

Екологичната престъпност силно и трайно уврежда биологичното разнообразие и човешкото здраве. Тя е трансгранична, носи нисък риск и високи печалби. А разследванията на екологични престъпления са малко. Очевидно е, че действията на институциите не са достатъчни, за да спрат извършителите и да деактивират големи престъпни групи, които правят огромни печалби.  
 
Примерът е от Пловдив и е прецедент за България. За първи път у нас граждани осъдиха общината заради мръсния въздух. Делото бе заведено през 2010 г. от Асоциацията за европейска интеграция и права на човека. Съдебната битка продължи 11 години и завърши с безпрецедентно за България, а и за Европа, съдебно решение, което задължава институциите да прилагат зелени политики.
 
Героите в този епизод са участници в битката за по-добър живот чрез опазване на природата под егидата на съдопроизводството - адвокат Михаил Екимджиев от Асоциацията за европейска интеграция и права на човека, д-р Веселка Христамян от националното гражданско обединение „Дишай България“, климатичният емигрант Гавраил Гавраилов - екоактивист, журналист и писател, съдия Ян Лешчевски, председател на Окръжния съд в Ломжа, Полша.  
 
Crime against climate – politicians, citizens, justice

Ecological crimes damage strongly and for long biological variety and human health. It is cross - border, it carries low risk and gains high profits. Investigations of ecological crimes are known to be few. Obviously the actions of the official institutions to stop the doers and deactivate big criminal organizations making huge profits, are not enough.
 
This episode of the podcast ‘’The Green deal” is based on this: ecological crime, political  inaction, civic activism and justice.
 
The event happened in Plovdiv and it is a precedent for Bulgaria. For the very first time citizens condemn the municipality for the dirty air in town. The file was lawsuited in court in 2010 by The Association for European Integration and Human rights. The battle in court took 11 years and ended unprecedentedly for Bulgaria and Europe making the institutions obey and involve green politics.
 
The heroes in this episode are: Attorney Mihail Ekimdjiev – representative of The Association for European Integration and Human rights, D-r Veselka Hristamiyan from The National civil union -“ Breathe  Bulgaria”, Gavrail Gavrailov – ecological activist, journalist and writer, judge Jan Leszczewski, President of the District Court in Lomza, Poland.

All these events leave behind mountains of waste and have their own carbon footprint on the environment. In this podcast, experts propose alternative solutions.   Julieta Dobcheva is one of the creators of the Nold Platform, which seeks a new life for quality second-hand clothes. According to her, you can buy a second-hand dress for a wedding. A similar example is given by Greta Ašmantaitė, an organizer of environmental events from Lithuania. Danita Zarichinova from the Association "For the Earth" sais that music festivals can create so-called "deposit system" for cups. Birthdays can be celebrated in nature, on a farm with organic food. Similar events are organized by Silvia Uzunova at her farm. It turns out that this kind of events are well received by 14-year-olds Konstantina Yaneva and Ana Adamova.

The fight against bacteria: is clean always "green" 
In recent decades, and especially in a pandemic, there has been a boom in all hygiene products: we take a shower every day, clean our food with plenty of drinking water, wipe all surfaces with plenty of cleaning products, use disposable utensils and food containers. our comfort, such as diapers, sanitary pads, etc. The so-called disposable culture has intensified.
If hygiene is a measure of civilization and a condition for better health, do we know what the disadvantages of this bacterial hunt are and how it affects our immune system?

Обичат земята, обичат животните и се гордеят както с професията, която са избрали да изучават в училище, така и с фермите, които притежават семействата им. И тримата са възпитаници на професионалната гимназия по селско стопанство в гр. Разлог. Училище с традиции в аграрния сектор, казва директорката Татяна Динчева, която споделя, че около 70% от възпитаниците на учебното заведение продължават професионалния си път като фермери. Статистиката им е обнадеждаваща на фона на тревожните данни на ЕК, че повече от половината земеделска земя се управлява от фермери над 55 години. Училища като гимназията в Разлог се опитват да запазят и дори увеличат интереса към тези професии сред младежите, внедрявайки интерактивни методи на обучение.   We meet you with Mustafa, Spasimir and Jordan. They love the land, they love animals and they are proud of both the profession they have chosen to study at school and the farms they own. All three are graduates of the Vocational High School of Agricultural Mechanization in Razlog. A school with traditions in the agricultural sector, says the director Tatiana Dincheva, who shares that about 70% of the graduates of the school continue their professional path as farmers. Their statistics are encouraging against the alarming data of the European Commission that more than half of agricultural land is managed by farmers over 55 years. Schools such as the Vocational High School of Agricultural Mechanization in Razlog are trying to maintain and even increase interest in these professions among young people by introducing interactive teaching methods.
One thing is for sure, supporting the next generation of European farmers will not only improve the competitiveness of EU agriculture in the future, but will also ensure Europe's food security for years to come. However, the incentives for them to start their own business in the sector are important. Stoyan Grozdanov, 40 years old, from Blagoevgrad, who runs a pig and buffalo farm in the regional center, also hopes for better conditions and better times for farmers. For him, his farm is everything and his ambitions for professional development and nutrition of his family are related to animals.
