Бъдещите градове в Европейския съюз ще трябва да могат безопасно да приемат повече хора, като същевременно се справят с въздействието на изменението на климата и гарантират добро качество на живот. Всеки европейски град трябва да има своята “зелена сделка”.

Summary:
Nearly half of the world's population now lives in cities. By 2050, experts estimate that 75% of the human population will reside in urban centers. Urbanization is changing the traditional fabric of life. The greatest challenge cities face is climate change.
The future cities in the European Union will need to accommodate more people safely while dealing with the impacts of climate change and ensuring a high quality of life.
The European Commission emphasizes that each city should have its own "green deal." The role of cities and municipalities is crucial in achieving energy and climate goals rapidly. Architects and urban planners play a defining role in these processes.
This episode of the "Green Deal" podcast is dedicated to urbanism and climate. I'm Antoaneta Petrichanska, and we explore the topic with experts in sustainable urban planning and climate.

The European "Green Deal" changes not only energy and the economy, but also the lives of citizens. A number of aspects of public life will be transformed as a result of the main goal - decarbonization of the European continent by 2050. The transition in Bulgaria, where about 70% of carbon emissions are result of energy, requires a huge effort. Beyond the debate about the path and direction of the green transformation towards which developed countries and their societies are striving the focus should be - how much will it cost and what are we willing to give up for a cleaner environment?

Title: How can design and architecture help save the planet

Research in architecture and construction on passive structures, on materials and techniques to keep warm in winter and cool in summer, on strategies to recycle and reuse raw materials, structural elements, packaging, and even locations, to reduce environmental (and economic) transport costs is increasingly relevant. Awareness of the problem is becoming increasingly important, especially given that the construction sector accounts for almost 40% of global carbon dioxide emissions. And 11% of these are the result of the production of building materials such as steel, cement or glass.
 
By definition, carbon neutrality eliminates the number of greenhouse gases produced by human activity by reducing existing emissions and applying methods to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
 
Bulgaria is also working on projects and measures to promote energy efficiency in residential buildings. How design and architecture help save the planet - we talk about that together with architect Petar Dikov - Executive Director of the Institute for Urban Planning, and before that for 10 years Chief Architect of Sofia Municipality, Dragomir Tsanev - Executive Director of the Center for Energy Efficiency EnEffect, Eng. The threat of hazardous waste
